Animal Care Specialist

As the primary expert and advocate for the health, welfare, and proper care of companion animals and aquatic life within the Pet Care Center, you will perform animal care tasks, hygiene and habitat maintenance, and wellness documentation while supporting sales, merchandising, and inventory execution. You’ll educate customers on animal care, collaborate with the sales team, mentor partners on care standards, maintain clean habitats, assist with inventory and shrink goals, and contribute to a collaborative PCC team. Requirements include at least 1 year of experience with companion animals and aquatic life, strong animal-care knowledge and customer-service skills, ability to lift up to 50 pounds, HS diploma or GED preferred, and completion of the Petco Animal Care Certification Program. This role is based in-store and involves frequent customer interaction and hands-on animal care in a retail environment.
