Job Summary
As an Animal Care Specialist at Petco, you will be the primary expert for the health, welfare, and proper care of companion animals and aquatic life in the Pet Care Center. You’ll ensure animal health checks, maintain habitats, complete wellness documentation and incident reports, assist with relinquished/adoptive animals, educate customers and PCC partners, and support sales, merchandising, and inventory. You’ll mentor teammates on animal-care standards, uphold safety and welfare procedures, and help meet department goals through diligent care and collaborative, customer-focused service.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working with or caring for companion animals and aquatic life
- Strong knowledge of animal care, husbandry, and maintenance practices
- Completion and ongoing maintenance of the Petco Animal Care Certification Program required
- High school diploma or GED preferred
