Job Summary
Provides care, health and well-being for research animals at Baylor College of Medicine. Completes complex animal caretaking duties and begins to specialize in care of individual species, following CCM SOPs and safety guidelines. Performs specialized handling, feeding, and general care of animals; conducts census counts; euthanizes animals per CCM policy; organizes feed and bedding supplies; maintains equipment flow; provides coverage for staff shortages in husbandry operations; may work in general rodent and specialized rooms; weekend and holiday work required on a rotational basis; adheres to CCM attendance policy; requires High School diploma or GED and ALAT certification (AALAS). Not eligible for visa sponsorship; eligible to work in the United States..locations: Center for Comparative Medicine facilities in Houston are on-site operations.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- One year of relevant experience
- Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician (ALAT) by the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS)
