Job Summary
Maintain a high standard of animal care and welfare by providing scheduled feedings, clean water, proper bedding, and enrichment toys. Properly clean and sanitize kennels, wards, cages, equipment, and shelter areas according to policy. Exercise and socialize with animals daily while abiding by dog walking guidelines. Observe and document unusual behavior, signs of illness, and injuries on a daily basis. Communicate vital information to medical, behavior, adoption, and New Hope departments as needed. Restrain, confine, and handle animals, including those that are ill, injured, quarantined, or aggressive. Process animal intakes and provide excellent customer service to individuals utilizing ACC services.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Six months of previous animal care or custodial experience
- Equivalent education in a related field
- Treats animals and people with respect
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work standing for 8 hours or more
- Fear Free Shelter certification within 30 days of hire
