Job Summary
Perform daily and weekly wellness observations to monitor animal health, recognizing signs of illness or abnormal behavior and communicating concerns promptly to supervisors or veterinary staff. Assist with routine treatments, immunizations, hoof care, and blood collection while maintaining humane handling practices. Clean, sanitize, and maintain animal housing, barns, and equipment, replacing bedding and supporting biosecurity and pest control efforts. Operate farm equipment, tractors, forklifts, or skid steers when trained and authorized. Maintain accurate documentation of treatments, observations, and inventory within company quality systems. Work collaboratively with supervisors, veterinarians, and team members to support animal welfare and scientific operations. This role requires frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting in varying weather conditions.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Experience working with animals through employment, farming, volunteering, internships, or personal experience
- Ability to recognize when animals require attention and communicate concerns appropriately
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to following established procedures
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Willingness to learn new skills and work in a fast-paced, hands-on environment
- Physical Requirements: This position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, and working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Candidates must be comfortable working around animals, cleaning agents, farm equipment, and power-washing equipment while following all required safety procedures and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
Desired Qualifications
- Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) credential or coursework in Veterinary Technology, Animal Science, Agriculture, or a related field
- Experience working with large animals such as cattle, horses, goats, sheep, rabbits, or donkeys
- Experience administering injections, collecting blood samples, or supporting veterinary procedures
- Experience operating farm or construction equipment
