Job Summary
Animal Care Assistant responsible for daily care, training, enrichment, and husbandry of the marine mammal collection (including bottlenose dolphins, North American river otter, and ocelot) with duties spanning diet preparation, behavioral observation and documentation, enrichment program development, records management (TRACKS data entry), exhibit cleaning and life support monitoring, SCUBA-assisted cleaning, and adherence to AZA and applicable safety regulations to ensure animal wellness and guest experiences.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in biology, psychology, marine science, or related field (or equivalent education/experience)
- Open Water SCUBA certification required
- First Aid, CPR/AED, and Emergency Oxygen Provider certifications required (may be obtained after hire)
- Valid Texas Driver’s License with insurable driving record
- Successful completion of a swim test required
