Job Summary
Animal Care Advocate responsible for providing compassionate, hands-on care to shelter animals (dogs, cats, and occasionally other animals), including maintaining safe housing, feeding, enrichment, and monitoring health and behavior. Responsibilities include handling animals with varying temperaments, following sanitation and disease-prevention protocols, assisting veterinary staff with vaccinations and examinations, administering or restraining as needed, providing basic grooming, supervising volunteers, accurately using shelter databases and communication tools, and reporting health or behavioral concerns. Must be able to work independently and as part of a team, communicate effectively, remain calm under stress, and have the physical stamina to handle animals and lift up to 50 lbs. Requires a High School diploma or GED; valid driver's license; willingness to work weekends and some holidays; prior familiarity with animals and basic computer skills preferred.
