Job Summary
Care for sea turtles, marine birds, and birds of prey at the ARK (Amos Rehabilitation Keep) housed by UT Marine Science Institute. Responsibilities include feeding the animals, cleaning enclosures and tanks, maintaining records, rescuing or receiving animals when necessary, following established treatment plans under supervision, administering medications, preparing diets, and assisting with medical procedures and outreach activities. Work with ARK staff and volunteers, monitor animal health, take measurements, and participate in educational/public outreach as needed. Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, at least one year of relevant animal-care experience, ability to handle wildlife safely, strong observation and communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Preferred qualifications include veterinary-technical certifications and wildlife-cares experience.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduation or GED
- A year of experience in care and handling of animals in a rehabilitation or veterinary setting
- Ability to handle and restrain wildlife safely and effectively
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
