Job Summary
Assist in patient procedures by formulating anesthetic plans, managing appointments, and maintaining medical records. Perform intravenous catheter placement, endotracheal intubation, and anesthetic equipment maintenance while monitoring anesthesia and troubleshooting complications. Apply thorough knowledge of physiology and pharmacology to manage high-risk patients and expand skills in arterial line placement and critical case management. Work in a fast-paced environment requiring flexibility for additional hours, with a focus on accurate documentation and delivering the highest quality care.
Required Qualifications
- State Registered Veterinary Technician license
- Prior veterinary experience
- Flexibility with work hours and ability to work additional hours when necessary
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in calculations (drugs, constant rate infusions, unit conversions, etc.)
- Thorough understanding of anesthetic considerations and how comorbidities affect case protocol and perioperative management
- Ability to monitor anesthesia, troubleshoot anesthetic complications, and make appropriate interventions
- Thorough understanding of physiology and pharmacology
- Ability to assist in patient procedures using knowledge of anesthesia and analgesia related protocols and procedures, including formulating anesthetic plans tailored to individual patient needs
- Ability to manage appointments, obtain histories, medical record keeping, invoicing, and patient discharges
- Ability to perform intravenous catheter placement, endotracheal intubation, and anesthetic equipment use and maintenance
- Ability to ensure documentation is accurate and complete
- Ability to drive the MedVet Experience and ensure patients receive the highest quality care
- Ability to inspire, teach, multitask, and be a highly functional team member
- Ability to lean on thorough understanding of physiology and pharmacology to facilitate delivery of appropriate anesthetic care for high risk patients or procedures
- Ability to continuously expand knowledge and skillset in anesthesia procedures and treatments
- Ability to collaborate with multiple teams and departments throughout the day
