Job Summary
Anesthesia Technician role in Milwaukee, WI supporting the Anesthesiology team in the operating room. Responsibilities include preparing, assembling and monitoring IV fluids, tubing, catheters, masks, electrodes, temperature probes, and other equipment; testing and calibrating anesthesia machines and monitors (ECG, blood pressure, temperature, gas analyzers, defibrillators, ventilators, vaporizers, fiber optics, etc.); maintaining equipment through cleaning, restocking, and coordinating with clinical engineering; assisting with intubation and IV insertion when requested; managing IV fluids and blood products as “second role” witness as needed; assisting with patient positioning; identifying and assembling intubation blades and bronchoscopes for difficult airway cases; communicating patient status to the anesthesiologist; running POCT analyses and analyzing arterial/venous blood samples; maintaining department records and maintenance logs; adhering to on-call rotations with a 30-minute response time; requires ability to walk/stand for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds; certifications in BLS and CCCA preferred; hours are 5:50am-2:20pm; Milwaukee location within Children’s Wisconsin, an equal opportunity employer.
Required Qualifications
- High School graduate or GED or HSED required
- Completion of an accredited program in Anesthesia Technology (A.A.S. degree) preferred or relevant experience
- BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification required within 90 days
- CCCA-Certified Anesthesia Technician preferred
