Job Summary
Assist anesthesia providers with induction, intubation, airway maintenance, IV insertion, invasive lines, and patient monitoring across anesthetizing locations. Anticipate provider needs during arterial and central access, fiberoptic intubation, difficult airway management, and procedures outside the operating room. Prepare, assemble, and perform safety checks on anesthesia equipment, airway devices, IV setups, and invasive monitoring systems. Troubleshoot equipment issues, maintain functional inventory, and track repairs. Set up, transport, and maintain specialty devices while responding to room calls for clinical supplies, blood products, and pharmaceuticals. Clean machines and rooms, restock carts, and maintain sterile supplies within expiration dates. Process salvaged blood and assist with volume infusions as directed. Train and mentor new staff on equipment setup and troubleshooting, serve as a preceptor, and identify performance improvement opportunities. Works across specialized services including cardiac, labor and delivery, neurosurgery, transplant, and fetal services. Adheres to quality, safety, and infection control standards. Requires three years of anesthesia technician experience and BLS certification.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- BLS - Cert-Basic Life Support by the American Heart Association
- CER-A-T - Cert-Cert Anesthesia by the TECH American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians (ASATT)
- Associate's degree - Completion of an anesthesia technician training program approved by the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians (ASATT)
- LICHRUSE - LIC HR USE
- 5 years' experience as an Anesthesia Technician
- 3 years' experience as an anesthesia technician
