Job Summary

Direct the Laboratory and Radiology Department activities and technical staff while monitoring operational status and ensuring strict adherence to state, federal, and HIPAA compliance guidelines. Oversee quality control and assurance protocols to guarantee accurate, timely patient care and manage departmental policies, procedures, budgets, and billing practices. Supervise staff through interviewing, hiring, training, coaching, and performance evaluation, while maintaining chargemaster accuracy and preparing inspection reports for regulatory bodies. Resolve workflow problems and drive continuous operational improvements across the hospital and medical clinics.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in medical technology or chemical, physical, or biological sciences
  • ASCP or AMT certification for Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist
  • five years of clinical experience
  • Medical Assistant Phlebotomy License through the Washington State Department of Health
  • 2+ years of Leadership experience, managing, planning, and executing activities including project management, establishing performance metrics, and employee engagement
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills including communication, facilitation, and effective meeting management, agenda development, as well as strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Leadership skills to motivate cross-departmental and cross-functional teams' performance towards excellence and develop team concepts and consensus-building management styles
  • Communication and listening skills that reflect diplomacy
  • Experience maintaining laboratory licensure requirements and related laboratory inspections (by the Washington Department of Health)
  • Commitment to life-long learning and improvement
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs

Desired Qualifications

  • Master's in Business Administration or biological sciences
  • Active membership in a national registry such as ASCP or equivalent
  • 3 to 5 years of experience managing a Laboratory and Radiology Department in a rural hospital
  • Experience participating in Senior/Executive Leadership including strategic planning and employee engagement
  • Experience in Laboratory and Radiology contract negotiations
  • Experience Managing in a union environment
  • Interested in participating in mentoring, teaching, and employee development opportunities
