Ancillary Laboratory Technician

Job Summary
Ancillary Laboratory Technician responsible for specimen integrity from procurement through basic testing, assisting patients with forms, maintaining HIPAA compliance, accurate documentation and records, and ensuring inventory and lab supply readiness. Duties include interviewing patients for information, relaying provider orders, preparing forms and requisitions, educating patients on simple procedures, maintaining urine logs and specimen labeling, processing and preparing specimens for testing/shipping, keeping the lab area clean and stocked, complying with CLIA, OSHA, infection control policies, and participating in trainings. Preferred qualifications include completing a Phlebotomy program with current certification and prior EMR experience; travel up to 40% may be required.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Knowledge of Internet and Microsoft Office (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook)
- Excellent written and oral communication skills including customer service
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with doctors, clinical staff, other coworkers and the public
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
