Job Summary
Analytics Engineer at Hearst Television to bridge raw data and executive insights by transforming Bronze data into Silver and Gold layers, modeling semantic structures for a unified source of truth, and preparing data for AI and LLM consumption. The role includes building robust data pipelines in Spark/SQL, designing and maintaining the Microsoft Fabric Semantic Model, codifying business logic with Sales and Finance stakeholders, enabling AI Data Agents to navigate hierarchies of stations, advertisers, and categories, implementing Row-Level Security and data lineage, providing technical leadership on data models, and optimizing pipelines with RCA. The position emphasizes collaboration across cross-functional teams, data governance, and delivering high-performance data assets for Power BI dashboards and AI tools.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years in business analytics, data modeling, or data engineering (or Master’s degree with 5+ years)
- 5+ years of relational modeling concepts
- 5+ years of experience with Power BI, DAX, and Spark (Spark SQL/PySpark/Scala)
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric tools and the Delta Lake format
- Experience translating complex business requirements into technical requirements using Star Schema/Dimensional modeling
- DevOps familiarity with Git, CI/CD, and modern development workflows
- Experience collaborating with Sales and Finance stakeholders to codify business logic
- Ability to structure data for LLM consumption
- Knowledge of data governance and security best practices
