Job Summary
Manage the safe operation and administration of the Quality Control Laboratory, supervising laboratory staff and assigning priorities for daily operations and testing. Ensure adherence to safety policies, maintain compliance with customer specifications, and monitor Key Performance Indicators for the Analytical Lab. Coordinate activities for site visits, address audit findings, and execute continuous improvements through Lean projects and Quality systems enhancements. Manage scientific equipment calibration, conduct personnel interviews and performance reviews, and lead departmental training and recertification efforts. This 100% onsite role reports to the Dayton Site Quality Manager at the Midland MI facility.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a scientific field (i.e., Chemistry, Biology, etc.)
- 3+ years of experience as a team lead or supervisor
- Laboratory experience with analytical instrumentation (GC, IR, NMR, GPC, ICP, GFAAS, etc.)
- Knowledge in laboratory methods and techniques
- Experience with Gage R&R
- Six Sigma
Desired Qualifications
- Intermediate skills in applicable Microsoft office Suite programs
- Excellent oral and written communication skills that have been demonstrated through presentations/seminars, oversight of projects, implementation of new services, etc.
- Excellent time management skills
- Highly collaborative as well as independent
- Demonstrates a high level of initiative and leadership capabilities
- Effective supervisory, coaching and training skills for complex and highly technical work
- Experience with Gage R&R
