Job Summary
Perform financial analysis of claims and healthcare data for Accountable Care Organizations and Health Plans, including trend analysis, reserve adequacy, and risk-adjusted performance. Model and monitor key actuarial analytics such as IBNR estimates, claims reserves, and accruals while querying database-level claims data using SQL to build and validate models. Identify trends, variances, and risk factors in financial data, proactively flagging issues or opportunities to leadership. Serve as the finance lead on select analyses and prepare clear presentations communicating findings to senior financial leadership and non-technical audiences. Partner with senior actuaries at client organizations and CHS to support decision-making across Medicare Fee-for-Service, Medicare Advantage, and value-based care risk models.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Active actuarial exam progress
- Strong understanding of healthcare finance fundamentals: premium, risk adjustment, IBNR, reserves, and accruals
- Working knowledge of Medicare FFS, Medicare Advantage, and value-based care risk models (e.g., shared savings, capitation)
- Working proficiency in SQL, with the ability to query and work directly with data from source databases
- Strong analytical and financial modeling skills, with high attention to accuracy and detail
- Ability to work effectively and independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Desired Qualifications
- Prior healthcare industry experience
- Candidates who have attained an actuarial designation (ASA) or who are on track to complete one within the next year
- Strong presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex financial/actuarial concepts for senior leadership audiences
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
