Job Summary
Conduct investigations, disputes, and forensic accounting engagements by analyzing financial, operational, and transactional data to identify risks, trends, and anomalies. Support the quantification of economic damages and assist in forensic investigations involving fraud, corruption, and asset misappropriation. Perform data analysis using various tools to generate insights, research industry information, and prepare working papers, presentations, and reports for clients, legal counsel, and regulators. Collaborate within multidisciplinary teams to develop communication skills and build technical knowledge in financial crime risk management and dispute resolution.
Required Qualifications
- An undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field
- A demonstrated interest in pursuing a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
- Detail oriented with proven analytical skills and systematic problem-solving abilities
- A self-starter who is highly organized, adaptable, and motivated to learn in a fast-paced environment
- Naturally curious, comfortable with ambiguity
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
- Able to meet Government of Canada security clearance requirements
- Willing to travel as required to support client engagements
- Fluency in French (for Quebec location)
Desired Qualifications
- Candidates actively pursuing their CPA are highly preferred
- An interest in pursuing additional professional credentials such as Chartered Business Valuator (CBV), Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS), or Certified Financial Crime Specialist (CFCS)
- Experience in AI prompting and automating tasks through use of agents (using tools such as Microsoft Copilot, Google Gemini or other similar applications)
- Experience with SQL, Python, or other data analysis tools
- Fluency in French is considered an asset for Ottawa-based candidates
- Experience conducting research, synthesizing information, preparing reports, and developing presentations
