Job Summary
Prepare, review, and maintain engineering documents including drawings, specifications, and contract plans to ensure accuracy and compliance. Coordinate with project managers, field engineers, and contractors to track progress, resolve technical issues, and manage submittals, RFIs, and change orders. Maintain accurate project records, daily reports, and cost tracking while assisting in schedule and budget preparation. Support the procurement process by reviewing vendor documentation and coordinating material deliveries. Ensure adherence to Amtrak standards, safety regulations, and federal railroad administration requirements. Requires a Bachelor's in Civil Engineering or Construction Management with 3+ years of office support experience, proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Project, and ability to travel as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in construction or civil engineering office support
- Proficiency with engineering software such as AutoCAD, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong understanding of construction documentation, contract administration, and project controls
- Excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working in the railroad industry or familiarity with railroad engineering standards and practices
- Knowledge of Amtrak's engineering and safety standards
- Certification as an Engineer in Training (EIT) or Project Management Professional (PMP)
- Experience with project management software such as Primavera P6
- Ability to travel to project sites as needed to support field operations
