Amtrak Office Engineer

Job Summary
Prepare, review, and maintain engineering documents, drawings, and contract plans while coordinating with field teams, contractors, and project managers to track progress and resolve technical issues. Manage project submittals, RFIs, and change orders; maintain accurate records, daily reports, and cost tracking. Assist in preparing schedules, budgets, and progress reports to support project controls, ensuring compliance with Amtrak standards and federal railroad administration requirements. Review vendor documentation to support the procurement process and material deliveries.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in construction or civil engineering office support
- Proficiency with engineering software such as AutoCAD, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong understanding of construction documentation, contract administration, and project controls
- Excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working in the railroad industry or familiarity with railroad engineering standards and practices
- Knowledge of Amtrak's engineering and safety standards
- Certification as an Engineer in Training (EIT) or Project Management Professional (PMP)
- Experience with project management software such as Primavera P6
- Ability to travel to project sites as needed to support field operations
