Amtrak Office Engineer

Job Summary
Prepare, review, and maintain engineering documents including drawings, specifications, and contract plans. Coordinate with project managers, field engineers, and contractors to track progress and resolve technical issues. Manage submittals, RFIs, and change orders to ensure timely processing. Maintain accurate project records, daily reports, and cost tracking. Assist in preparing schedules, budgets, and progress reports. Ensure compliance with Amtrak standards, safety regulations, and federal requirements. Support procurement by reviewing vendor documentation and coordinating material deliveries. Requires a Bachelor's in Civil Engineering or Construction Management with 3+ years of experience. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Project, and Primavera P6 is essential. Ability to travel to project sites as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in construction or civil engineering office support
- Proficiency with engineering software such as AutoCAD, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong understanding of construction documentation, contract administration, and project controls
- Excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working in the railroad industry or familiarity with railroad engineering standards and practices
- Knowledge of Amtrak's engineering and safety standards
- Certification as an Engineer in Training (EIT) or Project Management Professional (PMP)
- Experience with project management software such as Primavera P6
- Ability to travel to project sites as needed to support field operations
