Job Summary
Prepare and serve nutritious meals for students and staff by checking menus, following recipes, cooking, and cleaning up kitchen areas. Set up serving lines, monitor cooking temperatures under HACCP regulations, and maintain sanitation of equipment and storage zones. Assist with stocking supplies, rotating inventory, and preparing bag lunches or snacks as required. May operate a point-of-sale terminal to collect monies. Perform duties in compliance with school, district, and health department policies while attending necessary training. This ten-month role requires continuous physical exertion including standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 pounds in a hot kitchen environment.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- Ability to work in areas which are often uncomfortable, wet, and slippery
- Ability to work in the temperatures found in hot kitchens and the walk-in refrigerators and freezers
- Ability to understand and adhere to safety procedures and take precautions required to avoid cuts, bruises, burns, scalds, and falls
- Ability to understand and follow directions in English, both oral and written
- Ability to read, write, and perform basic mathematical calculations
- Ability to keep accurate records
- Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with colleagues
- Ability to follow standardized recipes
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
- Consistent and prompt attendance
- Ten-month (10) work year commitment
