Job Summary
AmeriCorps Youth Advocate provides counseling and case management to youth and family members, supervision and positive youth development for shelter residents, coordination of educational/skill-building activities, oversight of daily living activities (meal prep, chores, laundry), potential transportation support for academic, employment, or health needs, documentation and policy adherence, and participation in training/meetings. Position supports Briarpatch Runaway & Homeless Youth Program at the Briarpatch Youth Shelter, with duties including intake, shift communication, program referrals, and maintaining a safe, supportive shelter environment.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years old
- Experience working with at-risk youth and families
- Experience working with youth from diverse identities, cultures, and backgrounds
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft suite
- Equivalent of one (1) year experience volunteering with teens
- Reliable transportation including valid driver's license and auto insurance
