Job Summary
AmeriCorps STEM Specialist at Mountain Trails Elementary supports hands-on STEM education for youth at the Boys & Girls Club. Responsibilities include leading STEM lessons 12-16 hours per week, maintaining lesson plans and data on students served, completing weekly timesheets and monthly reports, evaluating progress with surveys and rubrics, fostering positive relationships with youth, families, staff, and teammates, promoting program participation, providing guidance and role modeling, ensuring safety and conduct, developing and implementing programs, monitoring and evaluating services, supervising activities, and participating in staff meetings and grant-required training. Preference given to candidates with education or work experience related to science, technology, engineering, math, teaching, or education. Minimum age 18, U.S. citizenship or permanent residency, and eligibility for CNCS requirements. Certifications such as CPR/First Aid may be required; valid state driver’s license is needed.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- US citizen or legal permanent resident
- 18+ years of age
- Experience in working with children
- Knowledge of youth development
- Motivated youth and manage behavior problems
- Ability to work with the school and general public
- Plan and implement quality programs for youth
- Organize and supervise members in a safe environment
- CPR and First Aid Certifications may be required
- Valid State Driver's License
