Job Summary
Connect community members to primary care, preventive services, and eligibility programs while educating the public about healthcare options. Collaborate with partners to identify service opportunities, provide translation services, and support disaster response efforts. Track-specific duties include navigating the healthcare system, assisting with pharmacy applications, scheduling prenatal appointments, conducting outreach screenings, and reading to pediatric patients. Work 32 hours weekly across multiple Houston clinics or remotely, with flexible evening and weekend availability. Earn a bi-weekly stipend of $816 and an Education Award of $7,395 upon completing 1700 hours.
Required Qualifications
- Must pass AmeriCorps and Legacy pre-employment requirements
- Must pass a three-part National Service Criminal History Check, including an FBI fingerprint check
- Must be available for Mandatory Orientation: September 21st-September 23rd
- Must be able to work a Service Term: September 21, 2026 - August 31, 2027
- Must be able to commit to a minimum of 32 hours per week
- Must commit to a total of 1700 hours
- Must be able to wear the AmeriCorps logo daily as a program representative
- Must be willing to be required or requested to support disaster response and recovery efforts at the local, state, or federal level
