Job Summary
ASL Teacher at South Beloit High School responsible for developing and implementing curriculum plans for ASL courses 1-4, accommodating individual student differences, planning and using instructional strategies and materials, collaborating with special education to modify curricula per IEP, using technology in teaching, consistently assessing student achievement, maintaining positive professional relationships, participating in district staff development, and demonstrating professional, ethical behavior while supporting the school district's mission.
Required Qualifications
- Certified to teach American Sign Language courses in grades 9-12 in Illinois
- Courses may include American Sign Language Levels 1 through 4
- Proven ability to work with colleagues and lead professional development
- Demonstrated leadership and strong interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to use student data to guide instructional decisions
- Strong communication skills (oral and written)
- Professional behavior aligned with district policies and IEP requirements
- Experience collaborating with special education for IEP accommodations
