Job Summary
American Sign Language Teacher at Harrisonburg City Public Schools. Develops and implements an instructional program for high school students, establishes daily written lesson plans, differentiates instruction, evaluates and revises instructional approaches based on student learning, effectively uses instructional materials and technology, maintains appropriate classroom behavior and confidentiality, and collaborates with students, families, administration, staff, and community agencies. Requires a Virginia Collegiate Professional license with an endorsed area, demonstrates knowledge of instructional strategies, and participates in ongoing professional development to support a diverse student population. Required Qualifications
- Possesses or qualify for a Virginia Collegiate Professional license with specific endorsement in the area to which assigned.
- Familiarity with racial equity and inclusion frameworks.
- Maintains appropriate state licensure; participates in staff development to keep materials, supplies, and skills up-to-date.
- Demonstrates knowledge of instructional strategies and skills related to scientifically-based research and its implementation.
- Proficiency in public speaking and written communication to express and/or exchange ideas.
