Job Summary
Ambulance & Events Volunteers provide care and support to patients starting from 111 calls to potential on-scene treatment or transport to a medical facility. The role includes volunteering at community events (e.g., sports events, school fairs, concerts) with NZQA-recognised training and ongoing education over about 6-9 months. Key duties emphasize compassionate, professional communication; reliable attendance; ability to participate in trainings; and assisting at events or on ambulances to deliver quality care. Required qualifications include a clean NZ driver's licence (12+ months) or approved advanced driving course, eligibility to work in NZ (18+), NZ citizenship or permanent residency, preferred First Aid Level 2 (training provided if not present), and clearance in pre-employment checks including a health and literacy/numeracy assessment, plus willingness to commit to regular duties and trainings.
Required Qualifications
- A full and clean NZ driver's licence for at least 12 months or have completed an approved NZTA advanced driving course
- To be 18 years of age or over
- New Zealand citizenship or permanent residency status
- A First Aid certificate level 2 is preferred, but training will be provided
- A clean police record
- Ability to pass Hato Hone St John assessments - physical assessment, health questionnaire, literacy and numeracy assessments and an interview
- Availability for regular duty and training (approximately two 12 hour shifts and one training session per month)
