Job Summary
Transport elderly, sick, and vulnerable service users to and from medical appointments and between healthcare facilities, either independently or with a colleague. Assist with the handing over of patients to appropriate staff at treatment centres or to family/friends at their homes, including transferring patients from beds to stretchers and chairs. Ensure the ambulance remains safe, clean, and tidy while providing high-level empathy during end-of-life transport and supporting service users with challenging behaviour or mental health illnesses. Maintain a valid UK manual driving licence with less than 6 points and possess the physical fitness required for patient handling. Work flexible shifts between 05:30am and 00:00, Monday to Sunday, on a 3-week rolling rota covering weekdays, weekends, and Bank Holidays.
Required Qualifications
- Hold a valid UK manual driving licence
- Hold a valid UK manual driving licence with less than 6 points
- Pass an Enhanced DBS check
- Be physically fit for patient handling and moving
- Be able to work flexible shifts between 05:30am and 00:00, Monday to Sunday (with notice)
- Be committed to patient care
- An effective communicator and experience of communicating with others in what can often be emotional circumstances
- To be a calm, considerate, careful driver
- Have a natural flair for team working and collaboration
- Familiar with the local and surrounding area
