Ambulance Billing Specialist

Job Summary
Review patient care reports to determine insurance information and gather data on policy numbers and services rendered. Contact facilities, hospitals, and patients for missing details and physician certifications, while verifying coverage and schedules with insurance companies. Compute total bills, follow up on unpaid claims, and sort incoming mail to locate correct addresses for returned correspondence. Prepare outgoing mail including bills, invoices, and reports; answer billing phone lines and assist visitors. Address billing questions from patients and contract payors professionally. Adapt to changes in the medical billing environment affecting reimbursements.
Required Qualifications
- all valid documents as required by AMED policies and procedures
- Medical Billing experience
- high school diploma
- certified training in medical coding and billing
- Strong typing skills
- basic computer knowledge
- knowledge of HIPPA requirements
- record management
- ability to multi task
- good personal judgment
- ability to communicate with vendors and co workers in a group setting, face to face or on the phone
- ability to work with all necessary office machines and technology systems
- ability to operate and have a general understanding of all equipment used to generate billing
- ability to troubleshoot all electronic equipment required for daily billing operations

- ability to visualize information on computer screens and all company reports
