Job Summary
Responsible for supporting other Sous Chefs and Executive Chef in a busy kitchen delivering consistently high-quality food. Specific duties are based on the Ala Carte line of the kitchen. Will need to work well under pressure and be an excellent team player. Responsibilities include complying with Food Health and Safety regulations and sanitation policies, evaluating and selecting among actions quickly, maintaining cleanliness and proper storage, proper food handling and temperature procedures, being present at assigned station, following supervisor instructions, daily prep and duties to meet restaurant standards, producing work to deadlines, ensuring high-quality production, knowledge of all menu items/recipes/methods, operating and maintaining line equipment, knowledge of menu creation while maintaining food cost and quality, checking station standards with labels/dates/storage, consulting with Sous Chef and Executive Chef on requirements, maintaining a friendly demeanor, and daily reporting of issues.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of three years of Commercial Kitchen experience with high volume in a 5 star restaurant/hotel setting is preferred.
- Must be detail oriented, accurate and possess good organizational abilities and be capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Should be able to stand and walk for long periods of time.
- Must possess customer service skills and strong oral communication skills.
- Competency in dealing with members and fellow employees under circumstances requiring tact and diplomacy.
- Must possess the ability to work effectively under time deadlines.
- Proven ability to develop a team.
- Performs work under minimal supervision.
- Handles complex issues and problems and refers only the most complex issues to higher-level staff.
