Job Summary
Welds fabricated cast or forged aluminum components and related vessels/tanks/structural assemblies. Performs FCAW (carbon steel) and GMAW/MIG welding on aluminum, prepares work area by cleaning and preheating, and inspects weld beads. Participates in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, quality, cycle-time, and costs. Requires at least 3 years of journeyman welding experience, strong English communication, and the ability to work all shifts at height in a shipbuilding/manufacturing environment.
Required Qualifications
- At least 3 years of welding experience as a journeyman
- High school education or equivalent preferred
- Knowledge of shipbuilding processes and procedures preferred
- Ability to understand verbal and written instructions and communicate effectively in English
- Willingness to work all shifts and at heights
- Construction or manufacturing background preferred with strong mechanical skills
- Proficiency in carbon steel FCAW and aluminum GMAW/MIG welding processes
- Familiarity with welding inspection of weld sizes and ASME/industry standards is a plus
