Job Summary
School social worker in an alternative education setting provides strategic, evidence-based social-emotional and behavioral support to students, acting as a liaison among families, school staff, and community resources. Responsibilities include identifying and assessing academic and non-academic barriers to learning, coaching staff on practices to support student wellbeing and self-determination, implementing therapeutic strategies for social-emotional and behavioral dynamics, conducting biopsychosocial assessments, delivering individual and group therapy, providing crisis intervention, offering parent/guardian educational workshops, collaborating with school personnel to promote student learning and wellness, maintaining required documentation for statistics and reporting, applying ODEW PBIS and related policies, maintaining CPI Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification, performing home visits to strengthen school-family connections, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA, FERPA, and ethical standards. Travel may be required; remote work is possible depending on assignments.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Board license by the Counselor, Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapist Board. (LSW, LiSW, or LiSW-S)
- Valid Pupil Services license from the Ohio Department of Education (ODEW)
- Documentation of a clear criminal record
- Complies with drug-free workplace rules and board policies
- Note: This assignment may require a valid driver's license and access/availability of a reliable vehicle. Employees must meet all prerequisites and ongoing qualifications to be covered by the service center's insurance carrier.
