Job Summary
Build and deepen relationships at priority benefits consulting houses, becoming the primary point of contact for consultants and their account teams. Develop engagement strategies by prioritizing firms, defining outreach tactics, and creating consultant-facing materials distinct from employer messaging. Present WellTheory's model and outcomes data to practice leads while representing the company at industry events where consultants gather. Partner with the sales team to ensure consultants have accurate information for client conversations and bring back market feedback on positioning and trends. This hands-on individual contributor role requires significant travel, averaging 50% with peaks at 75%, and involves building a category from the ground up in a fast-paced startup environment.
Required Qualifications
- 5–10+ years of experience either working at a consulting house (Mercer, Aon, WTW, Gallagher, or comparable) or leading alliances or consultant relations at a digital health company
- Know the benefits consulting world deeply
- Understand how consulting firms differ, how their practices are structured, and how they work with their employer clients
- Experience building a category, not just selling in one
- Strong verbal and written communicator
- Expert in storytelling rather than sales
- Strong presentation skills
- Comfortable being in front of an audience
- Know how to craft an effective written communication (i.e. emails, proposals, etc.)
- Thoughtful about word choice
- Comfortable with others editing important external communications you send out
