Job Summary
Two-part NPR editorial internship spanning All Things Considered (Oct–Jan) and National Desk (Jan–Apr). Interns actively participate in producing the daily program, pitch stories, conduct research, pre-interview guests, book studios, log interviews and events, obtain archival tape, assist with basic audio, attend daily editorial meetings, and help with digital production. In the National Desk portion, interns assist staff reporters, editors, producers, hosts, and freelancers with news programming, learn NPR’s ethical standards, develop radio reporting and producing skills, conduct research for editors/reporters, build clipboards, log tape, and write digital posts, all under close supervision. Ideal for those with a keen interest in journalism and public media; requires current enrollment in an accredited degree program or recent graduate status (within 12 months). On-site in Washington, D.C., full-time schedule (40 hours/week), hourly rate $20.00, with comprehensive benefits and professional development opportunities.
