Job Summary
Algorithms Engineer in the Guidance, Control, and Simulation team based in Belfast. Drive modelling and algorithm development across the product lifecycle, from concept validation to trials data analysis, hardware-in-the-loop testing, and performance trials. Collaborate with Army/Navy/RAF stakeholders; work across Modelling & Simulation and AI & Image Processing teams. Responsibilities include developing and implementing guidance algorithms, designing and optimizing control actuation, enhancing target DRI and tracking, supporting launch platforms and fire control systems, and delivering performance predictions and trials analysis. Required: numerate or engineering degree with post-graduate modelling/simulation experience; strong analytical, communication, and independent-working skills; ability to obtain security clearance. Desirable: Matlab/Mathworks, flight dynamics, missile guidance, autopilot design, motor control, dynamic mechanical modelling, image processing, machine learning/AI, real-time simulation. Security clearance (SC) is a condition of employment; UK residence rules apply. The role offers a competitive benefits package and opportunities for travel to Wales and Scotland.
Required Qualifications
- degree in numerate or engineering discipline
- post-graduate experience in modelling, simulation, or related fields (desirable)
- ability to obtain and maintain security clearance
