Job Summary
Develop and execute local medical strategies and tactical plans across assets, indications, and lifecycle stages within the Rare Bone & Endocrine Disorders and Rare Tumours therapeutic areas. Lead the medical organization by managing talent development, recruitment, and budgeting while ensuring strategic alignment with global and regional priorities. Collaborate cross-functionally with Commercial, Market Access, Clinical Development, and Regulatory teams to build local evidence, establish evidence-based standards of care, and drive continuous operational improvements. Represent Japan Medical Affairs at relevant Product Teams and escalate key issues to the Medical Leadership Team. Ensure medical activities maintain quality and strategic alignment while fostering trust with external experts, healthcare professionals, and patient communities.
Required Qualifications
- MD, PhD, or PharmD level degree or equivalent
- Experience in a Global or International Medical Affairs function (5+ years)
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Experience and ability to work in a matrixed cross-functional environment, both internally and remotely
- Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to drive results as an effective team member and project leader
- Proven ability to manage budget and resources
- Strong business acumen
- Ability to build effective partnerships between HQ and affiliates
- Flexibility and ability to adapt to changing conditions
- Excellent problem solving, organizational, and negotiating skills
- Must demonstrate energy and enthusiasm, bringing a positive approach to challenges, along with a strong sense of ethics and responsibility
- Travel required up to 25%

- Scientific and technical acumen in the relevant therapeutic area
- Understanding of evidence generation, health economics and outcomes research, and access/reimbursement environment
- Understanding of global and local healthcare environments, stakeholder needs, and access considerations
