Job Summary
Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC-T, CASAC, or CASAC2) to work in the medical department at the Broome County Correctional Facility in Binghamton, NY. Full-time role (40 hours/week) with day shifts. Responsibilities include clinical monitoring and coordination of the behavioral health program, serving as liaison between medical and facility staff regarding Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT), engaging patients in therapeutic interventions, facilitating group and individual MAT sessions, suicide prevention, documenting patient encounters using the SOAPE format, assisting with discharge planning, participating in interdisciplinary meetings, and contributing to Quality Assurance standards and audits. Required Qualifications
- Must be certified as an Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC-T, CASAC, CASAC2)
- Bachelor’s Degree / Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or other related Human Services degree with a concentration in drug and alcohol coursework
- Minimum one (1) year clinical experience preferred
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to function independently and demonstrate clinical competency
- Ability to gain trust of patients and build a working relationship
