Job Summary
Lead accounting, finance, revenue cycle, billing, coding, or patient financial services functions across rural, remote, and frontier healthcare organizations in Alaska. Manage month-end and year-end close processes, develop budgets and financial models, and strengthen billing, collections, and denial-management performance. Support accurate patient registration, eligibility verification, coding, charge capture, and claims submission while ensuring compliance with payer, regulatory, and grant requirements. Prepare for audits, develop internal controls, and collaborate with clinical, operational, and executive leaders to improve reimbursement and organizational sustainability. Evaluate the financial impact of travel, workforce shortages, and regional operations to ensure essential healthcare services remain accessible.
Required Qualifications
- Progressive experience in healthcare finance, accounting, revenue cycle, billing, coding, reimbursement, or patient financial services
- Previous leadership experience as a director, manager, controller, supervisor, or comparable leader
- Knowledge of healthcare reimbursement, payer requirements, billing practices, accounting standards, and financial operations
- Experience with Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance, government programs, and patient-pay accounts
- An understanding of hospital, clinic, long-term care, or healthcare-system workflows
- Experience analyzing financial or revenue cycle performance and communicating findings clearly to leadership
- Experience improving collections, denials, coding accuracy, charge capture, reimbursement, cash flow, or accounts receivable performance
- Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, communication, and team-development skills
- The ability to collaborate across clinical, operational, financial, technical, Tribal, and executive teams
- Experience with Critical Access Hospitals, Rural Health Clinics, FQHCs, Tribal health organizations, regional health corporations, long-term care providers, or community healthcare organizations
- Experience supporting multi-site organizations or services spread across significant geographic distances
- Relevant education or professional credentials based on the position
- A collaborative, transparent, practical, and relationship-focused leadership style
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with Tribal health reimbursement, Indian Health Service programs, federal grants, or public-sector finance
- Some opportunities may prefer credentials such as CPA, CHFP, CRCR, CPC, CCS, RHIA, RHIT, or another finance, coding, revenue cycle, reimbursement, or health information certification
- Experience supporting road-system, rural, remote, frontier, village-based, or regional organizations
- Open to relocation, regional travel, rotational schedules, or fly-in assignments
- Experience with Tribal health finance or revenue cycle leadership
