Job Summary
Provide safe, high-quality, patient-centered, and culturally respectful care while evaluating, diagnosing, treating, and managing patients across primary, urgent, emergency, inpatient, specialty, women's health, and behavioral health services. Support continuity of care by coordinating referrals, medical travel, telehealth services, and transitions, and collaborate with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and community partners. Participate in call, weekend, rotational, or block-schedule coverage, traveling between communities or clinics as required to support staffing gaps or seasonal demand. Respond to urgent clinical needs with limited onsite resources and build trusted relationships with patients, families, and regional healthcare organizations.
Required Qualifications
- Current nurse practitioner, physician assistant, or applicable advanced practice licensure
- Eligibility for Alaska licensure
- National certification in the relevant specialty
- Current DEA registration when required
- Relevant clinical experience
- Strong communication, collaboration, adaptability, and professional judgment
- The ability to work independently while remaining connected to the broader care team
- The ability to make sound clinical decisions in settings where immediate specialty resources may not be available
- Experience serving rural, remote, frontier, underserved, or medically complex populations
- Experience with Critical Access Hospitals, Rural Health Clinics, FQHCs, Tribal health organizations, community hospitals, regional health systems, or village-based healthcare programs
- Experience using telehealth or coordinating care across significant geographic distances
- Respect for Alaska Native cultures, local traditions, community priorities, and the unique needs of each region
- A patient-centered, dependable, flexible, and community-minded approach
