Job Summary
Install, troubleshoot, and maintain Fire Alarm, burglar alarm, access control, and CCTV systems in diverse settings. Execute low voltage cabling in commercial buildings, including concrete drilling, conduit work, and cable support structures like j-hooks and racks. Conduct system tests to verify functionality, address network issues, and ensure compliance with safety and legal standards. Assist in pre-installation planning, design technical solutions, and work with both copper and fiber installations. Full-time role with significant travel, on-call rotation, and night shifts. Requires state licenses for low voltage, burglar alarm, security, and CCTV. Hourly rate ranges from $22 to $30 depending on experience and certifications.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Data Cable Technician
- Strong proficiency in installing and troubleshooting structured cabling in retail settings
- Required state licenses for low voltage, burglar alarm, security, and CCTV
- Willingness for extensive travel and flexible work schedules, including on-call and night shifts
- Familiarity with blueprints and site maps
- Able to identify colors and learn color codes
- Comfortable working in confined spaces and with both copper and fiber installations
- Skilled in operating boom or scissor lifts and comfortable working at heights
- Possession of PPE, basic telecommunication tools, and hand tools
- Reliable personal vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage
- Strong cabling infrastructure knowledge
- Excellent communication, customer relationship, and digital literacy skills
- Valid drivers license with a clean record for the past three years
Desired Qualifications
- Additional experience in CCTV, voice, and access control systems
- Experience in conduit installation
