Job Summary
Technical Specification Writer – Electrical for AJISS Coastal Support in Halifax, hybrid work arrangement. Develop Work Instructions and Statements of Work (SOW) to support corrective maintenance for Royal Canadian Navy vessels (AOPV, JSS). Liaise with OEMs, FMF work centers, and ship staff to understand defects, conduct investigations on board or in the Technical Document Package, and propose improvements. Create Deviations & Waivers, support Service Providers, and ensure Class Societies and objective quality evidence (OQE) are captured. Requires electrical technical diploma or Military QL5, 3+ years in marine/offshore sector, strong marine electrical systems knowledge, and proficiency in MS Office; English fluency and effective written/oral communication; ability to operate in dockyard environments. Hybrid work, occasional travel may be required; primary on-site in Halifax dockyard when ships are alongside.
Required Qualifications
- 2-year technical diploma in electrical field or Military QL5 certification in an approved Electrical Trade
- Minimum of 3 years of technical professional work experience in the marine/offshore sector within the last 10 years
- Strong working knowledge in maintenance, operation, design and/or troubleshooting of a wide range of marine electrical systems
- Strong communication skills (oral and written); Fluent in English
- Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office products
