Job Summary
Airport Operations Center Coordinators perform high‐level monitoring and dispatch duties to support CLT’s operations. Responsibilities include monitoring and operating airport systems (CAD, video management, access control, safety systems, flight tracking, weather monitoring, paging, and emergency notification), receiving and prioritizing emergency and non‐emergency calls from multiple platforms, dispatching resources, maintaining logs, coordinating with airlines, the FAA ATCT, and other stakeholders, issuing NOTAMs, managing gate assignments and inquiries, providing vehicle/pedestrian escorts and other operational support, conducting AOC training programs, and ensuring compliance with Federal, State, and Local regulations (e.g., ACM, SMS). The role requires independent judgment in emergencies, cross‐training responsibilities, and adapting to a 24/7 schedule in a on-site environment; a valid driver’s license and a background check/drug screen are required. The position emphasizes collaboration with multiple agencies, strong communication skills, and a commitment to regulatory compliance and safety within airport operations.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED with five years of related experience, or an associate’s degree with three years of related experience (preferred)
- At least one year of experience in airport operations
- Knowledge of airport and airline operations, emergency response procedures, and applicable regulations (14 CFR Part 139, 49 CFR Part 1542)
- Familiarity with Incident Command System (ICS), National Incident Management System (NIMS), safety management systems, and training program development
- Strong verbal, written, and radio communication skills
- Ability to organize data, prioritize resources, and respond effectively during routine and emergency operations
- Proficiency with computers and airport operational systems
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, maintaining professionalism with coworkers, tenants, agencies, and the public
- Ability to remain calm under pressure, assess situations quickly, and determine appropriate action within established procedures
