Job Summary
Diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy and light vehicles and equipment including EVs; overhaul engines and transmissions; perform safety inspections; mentor Fleet Mechanic trainees; use standard shop tools and diagnostic equipment; review vehicle history files to determine causes; replace defective parts; may conduct oxyacetylene welding and fabricate special equipment; maintain shop records and input data; operate a computer to access information; physical work in moderate-to-heavy conditions including lifting up to 80+ pounds; position offers full-time benefits with pension/401(k) and tuition reimbursement; Salt Lake City, UT.
Required Qualifications
- Four to six (4-6) years related work experience including operation, repair, adjustment, overhaul and general maintenance of either passenger vehicles, light or heavy trucks and equipment
- Up to two years vocational training with an accredited trade school in auto mechanics may be substituted for an equal amount of experience
- Knowledge of standard practices, equipment, tools of the automotive mechanic and welding trades; ability to diagnose and correct defects in a wide variety of either light equipment or heavy equipment or both; possession of all necessary hand tools; certification for vehicle safety inspections and vehicle emission tests (or ability to obtain within six months of hire); valid state driver's license or Utah driving privilege card; may be required to possess CDL Class A or B; ASE certifications may be required
