Job Summary
Oversee wheelchair operations at airport facilities to ensure passenger assistance exceeds expectations. Push passengers to and from gates, roll customer-occupied wheelchairs safely down jet bridges, and ensure brakes are secured before exit. Assist with moving luggage to vehicles, taxi stands, parking shuttles, and rental car stations. Maintain professional relationships with airline employees and airport authorities while completing necessary incident reports and following dispatcher gate orders. This physically demanding role requires lifting up to 75 lbs and pushing loaded wheelchairs up to 300 lbs on inclines. Candidates must obtain an airport badge, clear background and drug screens, and hold at least one year of supervisory experience. Located in Norfolk, VA, this hourly position includes tips and standard benefits.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Be authorized to work in the United States
- Must be able to clear a background and drug screen
- At least (1) one year of supervisory experience
- Must be able to lift up to up to 75 lbs and push a loaded wheelchair up to 300lbs up and down inclines throughout the shift
- Strong verbal and written communication skills using appropriate grammar, tone, and pronunciation to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
- Able to obtain an airport badge
- Must be able to lift and move up to 75 pounds regularly
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Peripheral vision and Ability to adjust focus
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
