Job Summary
Lead complex aircraft maintenance, major repairs, and return-to-service operations while performing advanced troubleshooting and fault isolation of systems. Oversee heavy maintenance checks, modification projects, and workflow coordination with Engineering, Quality Assurance, and regulatory representatives. Interpret maintenance manuals, review documentation for compliance, and train technicians across multiple skill levels. Support audits, inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure adherence to FAA regulations and company safety standards. Requires FAA Airframe & Powerplant certificate, 5+ years of experience, and ability to work flexible schedules including overtime and weekends.
Required Qualifications
- FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certificate
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
- Ability to obtain airport driving privileges
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including overtime, weekends, holidays, and varying shifts
- Expert-level understanding of aircraft systems, heavy maintenance, and troubleshooting
- Extensive knowledge of FAA regulations, Repair Station Manuals, quality systems, Airworthiness Directives, and engineering authorizations
- Knowledge of maintenance planning, workflow coordination, and production control processes
- Advanced understanding of root cause analysis and reliability concepts
- Ability to exercise sound technical and regulatory judgment
- Ability to lead teams effectively in high-pressure operational environments
- Ability to make independent maintenance decisions within authorized limits
- Ability to resolve complex technical and personnel-related issues
- Ability to ensure regulatory compliance and quality standards are maintained
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining safety, quality, and productivity
- Proficient with maintenance tracking systems, electronic work packages, and Microsoft Office applications
- Strong leadership, communication, and mentoring skills
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Strong organizational and project coordination capabilities
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, reach, and work in confined spaces for extended periods
- Ability to work from ladders, maintenance stands, and elevated work platforms
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds regularly
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and precision measuring instruments
- Ability to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including respirators, hearing protection, safety glasses, gloves, and fall protection equipment
- Commitment to safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement
Desired Qualifications
- Graduation from an FAA-approved Aviation Maintenance Technician School (AMTS)
- 5+ years of aircraft maintenance experience
- Previous heavy maintenance, MRO, airline, military, or commercial aviation experience
- Demonstrated experience leading complex maintenance projects and troubleshooting activities
- Documented fleet specific formal training courses such as 40-hour General Familiarization courses or ATA 104 level 1, 2, 3, or 4 courses
- Documented fleet specific engine run and taxi training and qualifications
