Job Summary

Conduct a variety of inspection tasks on structural assemblies and subassemblies, ranging from repetitive to non-repetitive operations. Work from diagrams and drawings to verify initial layouts and use hand tools to ensure conformity to specifications. Perform continuity checks on in-process and finished work, conduct quality inspections on the production line, and follow FAA-approved procedures, OEM technical data, and work package instructions. Inspect completed work to identify rework needs, ensuring repairs meet prescribed standards and tolerances before final sign-off. Complete documentation in compliance with internal quality processes and FAA guidelines. Review assembly work for airworthiness certification, observe and audit the team during bonds, and take pictures to track time. This role supports Joby's efforts to certify the aircraft and scale manufacturing for electric air taxis.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in aircraft assembly, mechanical assembly, and/or aircraft structures
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with proficiency in using precision instruments and hand tools for inspections
  • Familiarity with composite part fabrication and the ability to interpret work orders, blueprints, and specifications
  • Solid understanding of machines and tools, including their design, operation, maintenance, and repair
  • Proficiency in using air-powered hand tools and related equipment
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and methods to optimize manufacturing and distribution efficiency
  • Ability to work in a safe professional manner adhering to all regulatory requirements including, OSHA, EPA, State and Federal regulations
  • Ability to work flexible hours and different shifts if required

Desired Qualifications

  • Five plus years' experience with aircraft composite assembly, mechanical assembly, or aircraft structures
  • Experience with tech data, aircraft drawings, and manufacturing work instructions to perform inspections
  • Familiar with paste/secondary bonded structure
  • A&P and mechanical experience
