Job Summary

Repair aircraft structures, landing gear, flight surfaces, and engine systems by replacing, rebuilding, and troubleshooting malfunctions using hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment. Read and interpret maintenance manuals to determine repair feasibility, then conduct progressive, phase, and periodic inspections to detect cracks, corrosion, and foreign object damage. Perform preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance, including flushing crankcases, cleaning filters, greasing moving parts, and adjusting electrical wiring systems. Remove engines for disassembly and reassembly, test operations with diagnostic equipment, and enter maintenance records to verify satisfactory completion of work.

Required Qualifications

  • Shift work and detachments
  • Navy Aviation Electrician AE 'A' School
  • Use of special tools/equipment required to perform assigned maintenance tasks
  • Valid Virginia or North Carolina Driver license (if North Carolina resident)
  • Ability to read and interpret technical publications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
  • Self-motivator
  • Ability to meet physical requirements associated with and/or pass any medical examination requirements related to performing daily assigned tasks
  • Ability to obtain an approved status from the Contractor Verification system which includes a 7-year background check
  • Security Clearance for Public Trust
  • Ability to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization
  • US Citizenship
  • Must be physically able to perform all assigned duties
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government background security check as well as favorable fingerprints in EQIP
  • Must be able to obtain an approved status from the Contractor Verification system which includes a 7-year background check
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization

Desired Qualifications

  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • 3 years prior F/A-18 A-G Collateral Duty Inspector/Quality Assurance Representative experience
  • FAA A&P License
  • Ramp Stamp (restricted/unrestricted)
  • A/S32A-45 Tow Tractor LFCU
  • A/M32T-5
