Job Summary
Fabricates, installs, and designs upholstery, cover panels, and simple patterns for aircraft interiors using design/engineering drawings and aircraft specifications. Performs Level I–IV upholstery tasks including fitting panels and windows, cabin headliners, carpets, covering bulkheads, fabricating metal parts, and installing panels; sews simple covers; collaborates with leads to implement process improvements using lean methods; works with fabric, vinyl, leather, composites, and various tools to meet safety, quality, and productivity standards; requires ability to read blueprints/engineering documentation and may require DOT/FAA drug/alcohol program participation; must be able to climb ladders, lift up to 40 pounds, and work shifts as assigned. Possible progression to direct hire after 90 days; may require reading and interpreting specifications and using material tracking system (Corridor).
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma/GED
- Experience using commercial sewing machines, sergers and/or various hand tools used in upholstery and carpet trades
- Two (2) years aircraft upholstery experience (preferred) or four (4) years upholstery experience including related tasks
- Valid driver's license may be required
- Participation in a DOT/FAA drug and alcohol program may be required
