Job Summary
Prepare and paint aircraft, support equipment, and allied component surfaces at the NTWL Patuxent River Naval Air Station. Coats surfaces with paint, lacquer, epoxy, or resin using brushes, rollers, and spray guns. Removes old paint with liquid remover and scrapers, then smooths surfaces with sandpaper and steel wool. Roughens aluminum with acid solution to ensure paint adhesion. Masks non-painted areas and applies insignia, letters, or numerals using stencils. Requires U.S. citizenship, five years of aircraft painting experience, and specific occupational codes. Flexible for overtime, weekends, and detachments.
Required Qualifications
- High school degree or equivalent
- A minimum of five (5) years experience in the preparation and painting of aircraft, support equipment, and allied component surfaces
- Personnel within this classification MUST be specialized in one or more of the following SCA occupational codes: 23740 Painter, aircraft
- Personnel within this classification MUST be specialized in one or more of the following SCA occupational codes: 05310 Automotive painter
- Aircraft Paint Touch Up and Markings Course (Course N-701-0014)
- Aircraft Paint/Finish Course (Course C-600-3182)
- U.S. citizenship
- Must be flexible to work overtime on any shift, including weekends
- Must be available for detachments, both ashore based and shipboard
