Job Summary
Prepare and paint aircraft, support equipment, and allied component surfaces using brushes, rollers, spray guns, and other devices. Remove old paint with liquid remover and scrapers, then smooth surfaces with sandpaper and steel wool. Roughen aluminum with acid solution to ensure paint adhesion. Mask uncovered portions and apply insignia, letters, or numerals using stencils. Work onsite at Patuxent River Naval Air Station, MD, with a competitive hourly rate of $43.48. Requires five years of experience, specific occupational codes, and completion of Aircraft Paint Touch Up and Markings or Aircraft Paint/Finish courses. U.S. citizenship is required. Flexible scheduling includes overtime, weekends, and detachments ashore or shipboard.
Required Qualifications
- High school degree or equivalent
- A minimum of five (5) years experience in the preparation and painting of aircraft, support equipment, and allied component surfaces
- Personnel within this classification MUST be specialized in one or more of the following SCA occupational codes: 23740 Painter, aircraft
- Personnel within this classification MUST be specialized in one or more of the following SCA occupational codes: 05310 Automotive painter
- Aircraft Paint Touch Up and Markings Course (Course N-701-0014)
- Aircraft Paint/Finish Course (Course C-600-3182)
- U.S. citizenship
- Must be flexible to work overtime on any shift, including weekends
- Must be available for detachments, both ashore based and shipboard
